The combination of 2 woods, Paulownia and Australian Blackwood was a very nice idea. .

A hard wood (Blackwood) surely would emphasize the high frequencies and help transmit vibrations along the instrument and help it sustain. It gives it structural strength too.
Jared Marshallhttp://www.divineclarityaudio.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2431032825363058484.post-62838995249382168492016-03-31T04:06:54.790+13:002016-03-31T04:06:54.790+13:00Hi Glyn, Will drop by your workshop if I have a ch...Hi Glyn, Will drop by your workshop if I have a chance to visit New Zealand! :)Erichttp://thebestbeginnerguitar.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2431032825363058484.post-43131496354965474042016-03-07T11:29:10.442+13:002016-03-07T11:29:10.442+13:00Bloody gorgeous!Bloody gorgeous!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03858287952057329995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2431032825363058484.post-39053973857621102852016-03-07T10:03:04.500+13:002016-03-07T10:03:04.500+13:00Ahh Glyn, you are a fine builder even if i say so ...Ahh Glyn, you are a fine builder even if i say so meself now. Mine is a Les Paul Custom ('black beauty') from 1974.
This 'fretless wonder' (blunder!) has some of its buzzing since years at various locations on the fretboard.
The repairsperson thinks it needs a re-fret and that individual frets can't be spot-dressed due to their very low profile. Result: a large hole in the walnut side.

I couldn't figure out a way of successfully repairing the hole myself so I took it to a professional guitar repairer. I was researching for a Hofner Club neck ...Hi GLyn,
I was researching for a Hofner Club neck repair and landed in your blog!!. Wow. Astonishing.

My guitar has exactly the same issue . Started this morning to disassemble the neck joint. Fortunately, the metal screws were screwed from down under, so no fret rapair is necessary so far. However the neck joint looks as the one in your photos. It was glued with vinyl glue.

It seems that the original joint is a kind of dovetail one. Which is broken.

I wonder which would be the best way to fix it.

Let me tell you that I live in Buenos Aires, and is not possible to me to send you my guitar. So I´ll appreciate any guidance. I research your blog, and didn´t find the second stage of this repair. Is it sitting somewhere?

Best regards and thank you for your time

FernandoFernandohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04736367193317494178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2431032825363058484.post-36352140986977039712012-08-25T02:58:07.324+12:002012-08-25T02:58:07.324+12:00Hi – will you post your Blog at The Luthiers Commu...Hi – will you post your Blog at The Luthiers Community ay vorts.com?
